Sustainable Growth Opportunities, the theme for ShARE World Seminar 2009, captures the essence of our concern and at the same time gives a glimpse of opportunities to counter these challenges. The purpose of this seminar is to understand the role of the latent stakeholders in our development - the environment and the society. For long we have overlooked the importance of these two important stakeholders in our march to development and growth, without realizing that they form the backbone of our development process. New ideas which promote sustainable development, i.e. development of all the stakeholders have emereged in the recent past. They promote a sense of care for the society, environment and surroundings while pushing forward for growth and development.
Our incessant development activities have taken its toll on natural resources and the ecological balance is in danger. Cutting of trees, oil dependent transportation system and increased pollution are showing their harmful effects and hence it is necessary to look into our consumption pattern and alternative resources and channels. The World seminar tries to look into these issues through discussion on exploring alternative energy systems. The seminar will be host to several industry leaders speaking about innovations and reforms which will help in reducing pressure on our ecological system.

Sustainable growth opportunities explore various models of a developing society such as microfinance, bottom of the pyramid economy, affordable housing and several others. The seminar gives a chance for all participants to discuss current economic models with its merits and demerits and devise a plan for sustainable economic development.
