ShARE WAS SET UP IN 2002 IN SHANGHAI BY A GROUP OF YOUNG FRENCH EAGER TO KNOW MORE ABOUT CHINA'S SURGING ECONOMY
THE CREATION - 2002

ShARE was set up in Shanghai on 6th November 2002 when 6 young French studying and working in Shanghai met and decided to set up a platform and exchange their knowledge on China's economic and business issues. The first name of ShARE was 'Asian Center for emerging Ideas' (ACEI). "Sharing knowledge" was at the heart of ShARE since the beginning and this remains true 10 years later.

THE FIRST MODEL - 2003

ACEI later became ShARE as we wanted to extend our concept beyond the limits of Asia and capture the essence of ACEI in one word, 'SHARE'.

Under the first model, 10 to 20 members would meet in a restaurant and organise informal presentations on China's economic and business issues. The spirit was to exchange knowledge, and not to create yet another network to exchange business cards.

Within a year ShARE had more than 40 active members. The initial model was replicated in Singapore and Tokyo.

A NEW MODEL - 2004

ShARE’s first large scale conference was organized in Shangai on 11th March 2004, and was attended by more than one hundred students, primarily from Shangai Jiaotong University (SJTU).

The event paved the way to a new model, with ShARE becoming embedded to the university ecosystem, whilst still preserving its founding spirit of ‘sharing knoweldge’.

ShARE-SJTU, subsequently, became the first campus team. Today more than 30 such teams exist.
