INTERVIEW OF A PARTNER

INTERVIEW WITH PATRICK BENAMMAR
Group Compensation, Benefits & Training Director, VALEO

What was the involvement between your company and ShARE ?

We started to be strongly connected to ShARE in 2008 at Group HR level. We have worked together on 5 projects, mainly with our Group R&D Director at the beginning and the after with our Asia Purchasing Director. In parallel, we had the chance to connect ShARE students to our China President and with our HR teams at country level in China and in India.

Why did you connect them to so high level people in your organisation? Wasn’t it a waste of time for so busy people?

It is very important for Top Executives to be in contact with ShARE students as they deliver an insight of the expectations of the younger generations from the emerging world. Additionally, all students are coached to prepare the meetings and to deliver the most accurate information in an appropriate time frame.

What is so particular about ShARE compared to students association?

There is a lot to say ! The quality of the work done by the students, their engagement in the projects, the quality of coaching and methodology, their knowledge of emerging markets...strong points that are not always met by other students associations.

Has ShARE impacted your strategic decision? Can students insights be taken seriously?

ShARE projects have helped us a lot to be convinced about the necessity to implement shortly R&D activities in Asia in 2008 and 2009. The importance of the projects supported by the local governments, the quality of the research programmes shown during our exchanges, have contributed to reinforce our ambition to be a strong R&D player in China and India to support our local customers development.

Do you agree with the above positioning of ShARE? Are they so innovative and professional?

I fully agree because for a reasonable price, international students are cooperating together through ShARE projects with a high level of engagement and professionalism. On top of that, they use their creativity to help global companies to refine their strategy or to support their local operations efficiently.

What kind of topic will you work with ShARE? In which area do they have a competitive advantage?

It’s very helpful for us to understand young generation’s opinion and specifically in emerging markets like China or India where our business is expanding quickly. ShARE students are really connected to the world and to the decision makers and that’s why their contribution is valuable for us.

From an HR point of view, why are you working with ShARE?

Working with ShARE gives us the opportunity to be directed connected to the best students from Top Universities around the world and to work directly with them on concrete projects. It’s a real facilitating way for them to discover Valeo and to make our Group known from their friends and for us to identify future talent!
